I belive it is a convergence problem. I do not know how to check the advanced convergence screen out on this set. I was wondering if there is anything that I could do before I need to call a repair person? Any help would be welcome. …

Your owners manual has this information in it on page 45. If you don’t have one you can get one in a PDF file just about any where on the net, just type it in & search. Not good at directions but her we go.
On the tv’s original remote press the device menu twice. You’ll see to the right the word convergence at the bottom of the menu. Above this you’ll see three buttons ( red, blue, & factory default ) press the directional pad to the right until you are on the red or blue it dose not matter which one then press enter. This is the standard convergence align the cross hairs until its completely white, You can jump between the rd & blue by pressing the video button. To get to the advanced just press the audio button. Fallow the directions on the screen & you can jump between the red & blue the same way just press the video button.
Hope this helps. If not your problem may be a lamp going out or your convergence curcuit board maybe faulty.
I have the same tv with a convergence problem but mine is in the circuit board. Be aware if you have these CRT type tv’s repaired I’ve heard a lot of horror stories. For example if the convergence board has to be repaired or replaced sometimes other circuits have been damaged as well & if a lamp is going out prepare to replace the others shortly after. I’m not taking the chance I’m buying the new diamond DLP model which are very nice & the sales on these new units are incredible I’ll pay less for the new one then I did for the old one.
Good Luck
